Installing and setting up Global Protect VPN
All users (staff or contractors) using GlobalProtect VPN must be part of the VPN security group and be set up in Okta Verify. All requests for VPN access must come from the employee’s supervisor or the contractor’s sponsor.
- Download and install the VPN software.
- For SPPS (Saint Paul Public Schools) staff using a MacBook, sign into Self Services and install Global Protect VPN Client.
- SPPS Windows users can find this in Software center while on-site.
- For non SPPS staff and Windows users off-site open the following website and download and install the agent for your device. SPPS staff will need to contact the service desk for remote assistance for installation.

- When running the installer accept the default settings until the installation is complete.
- After installing launch the program and select “Get Started”
- Set the portal address to vpn1.spps.org and select “Connect”
- The VPN requires Okta Verify. A user can have Okta Verify on a mobile device to authenticate but it is more convenient if Okta Verify is installed on the device connecting to the VPN. Guides for Okta can be found at the following websites: https://it.spps.org/staff-resources/okta-enrollment or https://servicedesk.spps.org/support/solutions/folders/19000101437.
